I was very lucky to recently be invited to the Bloomsbury Blogger’s Brunch to celebrate Brigid Kemmerer’s series, A Curse So Dark and Lonely. This event was held at Sketch London and was just stunning and so unique, I felt like a proper Cursebreaker!
We arrived for 9:15am, so a nice early start through the hustle and bustle of London commuters. Immediately Sketch London was unlike any venue I’d been to before, unique in every sense from the room we were in to the very bizarre looking toilets. Photos to come! During this event we had the opportunity to meet Brigid and chat with her about her process when creating this fantastic series. As expected, she was lovely and was so kind to all of us.

Before I go any further, I’d like to say a huge thank you to Emily and Mattea and all of the team at Bloomsbury for putting this together. Bloggers put so much work into what we do and helping to promote books and events like this are such a lovely tough that we appreciate so much! I hope I speak for more than myself when I say how much we enjoyed this event and how clear it was that effort had gone into arranging it.

We were offered a menu selection and pastries, as well as special A Curse So Dark and Lonely themed smoothies, which smelt very zingy! The room itself was like something out of Alice in Wonderland, just stunning! You can see the enchanting decor in my photos below. I couldn’t snap enough shots of this place, I desperately wanted to make the most of it! I need to give an honourable mention to the toilets in this place too. They were like little sci-fi pods that I half expected to take me to another land. Honestly so strange, but also so fitting for this utterly unique venue.
I know this venue is very expensive and exclusive so I was very honoured to be invited to an event here, it’s not somewhere I’ll forget in a hurry.
Talking with Brigid was great fun, she was super lovely and we had a laugh talking about the book with her and hearing stories from her. As always, it was also really fantastic to meet other bloggers and spend more time immersing myself in the bookish community. I can’t thank Bloomsbury enough for inviting me along to this event. It was lovely to celebrate this fantastic series with Brigid and other bloggers.
If you don’t know much about Brigid Kemmerer’s YA fantasy series, it is a Beauty and the Beast retelling of sorts. It is stuffed to the brim with some amazing female leads that are strong and sassy, as well as various men you may or may not want as your own love interest. It’s an addictive and immersive series that I love.

So amazing you were invited to such a lovely event! The place was truly out of this world!
This sounds amazing! So glad you had a great time!
