This book was like walking into a dream, anything could happen and there was beauty written on every page. Zachary Ezra Rawlins finds a strange book in his university library and realises it aligns to his own life. He goes about investigating the book and somehow gets swept into its strange world. Any book revolving around books themselves is a win in my opinion, so I was already excited to read this story.

Zachary is a delight of a character to follow, he is constantly referencing literature and being adorable and I love him! His attitude to life and relationships with people are honest and true and it makes him a fantastic character to follow. I love as well how this book integrates LGBT into its characters, it does this in exactly the right way by just having it part of the characters, not a big deal. More books need to be like this!

The Starless Sea, Erin Morgenstern

When you enter the world of The Starless Sea, it feels like anything can happen. The magic system seems limitless, and the setting it takes place in is beautiful. This novel is all about the feel of the place and the descriptions, they are what brings the reader in. The interweaving of other books into this story makes it all the more loveable, talking about Harry Potter regularly and Narnia when exploring the back of a wardrobe. Every word on this page speaks to the reader and paints a picture, it all adds to the overall atmosphere.

So much happens in this book and by the end, it was jam-packed with adventure and excitement. I loved the romance a lot, I loved the way the story fell into place and I love how we gradually saw more of The Starless Sea. I’d recommend this to any fantasy lover.
