I picked up the iPhone 11 Pro Max on release day to replace my iPhone 8 Plus, I wrote a blog post comparing all of the currently on-sale models here. Since then I have been regularly using the phone for all sorts, photos, calls, social media, blogging, directions, so let’s take a look at my thoughts over one month on.
I’m going to look at the four categories that I look at when I buy a phone, battery, camera, performance and design.
Battery
This is by far the shining feature of the iPhone 11 Pro Max. Coming from an iPhone 8 Plus that I had to charge multiple times a day, this battery is amazing. The most I have stretched my phone out to is about 29 hours without charging it and with normal usage. I would say I’m probably a heavy user of my phone, clocking up about 4/5 hours of screen time a day (we can blame my blog and social media channels for this). The iPhone 11 Pro Max battery has no issue with keeping up with this.
I charge my phone in the morning when I’m at work and it easily lives well into the next day. I could leave it longer, but I don’t like letting the charge drop below 30%. So the battery on this phone gets 5 STARS from me! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Camera
The iPhone 11 Pro Max boasts itself on having the best camera yet with three lenses for three different modes. Is it really that much different from previous models though and worth the hype? I’ve used various different cameras throughout my working life and I can say that the camera on this iPhone is superb and makes me leave my SLR camera at home for trips now. The portrait mode is absolutely brilliant and creates a stunning depth of field effect. The wide-angle lens captures a crisp, sharp and vast image which is perfect for blog headers when I’ve been to an event.
Having front-facing portrait mode has been fun too and I’ve enjoyed testing out new selfies. BUT, the shining factor of this iPhone’s camera has to be the night mode. I can’t say I have used it very much, but when I have, it’s been a glowing improvement from previous phone camera’s dark photography. This is a dedicated feature that makes your dark photos high quality and clear, I’m very impressed! Another 5 STARS from me! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Performance
I can’t say I’ve noticed a massive difference in the performance of the iPhone 11 Pro Max vs my old iPhone 8 Plus. I think this shows though that Apple makes strong phones that keep up with what I want from them and don’t become outdated in this regard. I’ve had no issues with the performance of this phone and have been nothing but impressed with how well it continues to meet my needs. With that in mind, I can’t fault the performance so yes, another 5 STARS! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Design
I have the Gold iPhone 11 Pro Max and it certainly is very shiny and pretty. I was rethinking my colour choice in-between pre-ordering and collecting my phone, but as everyone says, you’re only going to put a case on it. My only criticism of this design is the shiny gold edge of the phone, which smears and picks up fingerprints very easily. Other than that, I love the sleek design, so the design of this new iPhone gets 4 STARS from me ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Overall, I really love this phone and I would definitely recommend it if you’re looking to upgrade!
