This year I’m really getting into my festive reads, so here are five Christmas themed, cosy reads to fuel your reading for December. Some of these books I’ve read and some are still on my TBR.
Christmas Shopaholic, Sophie Kinsella
- A quirky, funny contemporary
- Quite literally feels like being given a warm hug from family and friends
- Totally ridiculous and yet you can’t help but smile
- Part of the Shopaholic series but can easily be read as a standalone
- About Bex and her family as she prepares to host her first-ever Christmas.
One Day in December, Josie Silver
- Another contemporary for Christmas
- I haven’t read this one but from what I can tell it looks like a cute romance centric plot
- Paperback is floppy af
- About a girl who sees a guy for a fleeting moment and decides he is the one before journeying to try and find him again.

This Winter, Alice Oseman
- Super short and definitely a one-sitting read
- Talks about mental health and ways to be more understanding of it
- Has a super cute puppy I want to cuddle
- About a family of siblings as we see Christmas day through each of their eyes.
Death Comes at Christmas, Gladys Mitchell
- A Christmas mystery… what’s not to love
- It’s been compared to Miss Marple
- Part of the classic mystery collection
- About Mrs Bradley who starts investigating the disturbing clues, following the death of local solicitor, to protect the people close to her.
Letters from Father Christmas, J. R. R. Tolkien
- I mean who wouldn’t want a letter from Tolkien writing as Father Christmas?!
- A festive compilation to make your heart happy
- Each letter feels as though it has its own personality
- Essentially this is transcribed letters Tolkien wrote from Father Christmas to his children.
I love getting stuck into festive reads, I hope these can offer you some good recommendations!
