What could be more perfect that snuggling up in a blanket on a cold day and reading a good book? Here’s a few recommendations.
• Tilly and the Bookwanderes (Pages & Co #1), Anna James
This one is a recent read for me, but perfect for the Autumn and Winter time. It’s about a girl who can wander into stories, how cool is that?! It’s a very quick read, but it makes you feel all warm and cosy. Set in a bookshop, it certainly made me want to find an armchair surrounded by books, set up camp and never leave. Even better when the weather is battering away at your window, and you’re tucked in in the warm.
• Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone, J.K. Rowling
I couldn’t not throw in a Potter book, they just encompass Christmas time for me. Who wouldn’t want to go to Hogwarts as the snow falls over the castle?! Attending a feast for Christmas there, ohhh I bet it would be delicious. I love the Christmas scenes in the films. Plus this series is a super familiar and cosy one to read in these months, it’s the perfect time of year to jump into an old favourite.
• Passenger, Alexandra Bracken
I don’t know why, but there’s something about time travel and adventures that I think is perfect for the Winter. It’s the time of year when it’s sometimes too cold to venture out yourself, so why not read about an adventure before you have your own. This duo-logy is the perfect mix of time travel and fantasy. It’s really exciting and addictive, plus informative about different parts of history, although to be taken with a pinch of salt!
• Cinder, Marissa Meyer
This fairytale retellings series is perfect for the Winter time, not only because that’s the name of the last book in this series. The story flows from one book to the next, but you follow a different character each time. It’s perfect to keep you entertained during these long months and you get to see your favourite fairytale characters reimagined in a new and exciting story. (I’m yet to read Winter, the final book in this series, so I still have that to look forward to)
I highly approve of this list 😀 I’m hoping to get the illustrated Harry Potters this Christmas, so I’m really looking forward to passing those gloomy January evenings bundled up with blankets and candles flipping through and seeing all those scenes brought to life!
