As a long standing bookworm for the last 23 years I have collected a fair few amount of books, some of which I have read and loved, some I DNF’d, but some still sit on my shelves today. So here’s a list of a few of the books that seem to have been sat on my TBR forever.
• American Gods, Neil Gaiman
I realllllly want to read this one, but I’m not that enthralled to pick it up. I think I want to read it to have read it, rather than really fancying the story. I bought this book with the final purchase of my Waterstones’ 50% staff discount about 2 years ago.
• Winter, Marissa Meyer
I’ve read Cinder, Scarlet and Cress, but for some reason I don’t want to pick Winter up. It’s nothing to do with the size, I just think that maybe I’ve outgrown this book series now.
• Ink and Bone, Rachel Caine
I bought this book after hearing Tackfiction rave about it, but now it’s just sat on my TBR waiting to be picked up. The annoying thing is, I know I’ll really enjoy this one!
• Alexander Hamilton, Rob Chernow
Admittedly I bought this during my most extreme times of Hamilton obsession and it is HUGE. I honestly don’t think I will ever read this, but it looks quite cool on my shelves.
• His Dark Materials series, Philip Pullman
This has been on my TBR for going on about 6/7 years now I think and I’m most likely going to read it in the coming months, FINALLY. I know I will love this, I think because I saw the film when it came out, it put me off reading the books a bit.
• Traitor to the Throne, Alwyn Hamilton
I read and enjoyed the first book in this series, Rebel of the Sands, so I don’t really know why I haven’t picked up the second book yet. I even own the third… and they’re all signed!
• History is All You Left Me, Adam Silvera
Honestly after being completely and utterly destroy by They Both Die at the End, I don’t know if I will ever be emotionally ready to read this book.
• Memoirs of a Geisha, Arthur Golden
This book is the inspiration for one of my favourite films and I think I am so worried that I will hate the book or find it slow that it will taint my experience of enjoying the story.

American Gods + His Dark Materials are some of my favourite books! They’re so good 🙂
I’m currently listening to the audiobook of Winter, it’s pretty good so far.
Ohh I could give the audiobook a go for it!
Ohhhhh, Memoirs of a Geisha was incredible. I haven’t seen the movie, but I loved every bit of the book. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
And I TOTALLY get your “I want to have read this more than I actually want to read it” feels, because I say that to myself all the time. 😀
Definitely guilty of this feeling on the regular!
American Gods is so amazing! If you don’t want to dive straight into the novel, there’s also a comic book series that tells the same story. It’s published by Dark Horse.
Ohh yes I’ve heard good things about the comic series!
I loved Cinder, Scarlet and Cress as well but I have yet to read Winter! I think I’ll have a reread soon and finally finish the series 🙂
Yeah I’m starting to forget what happened in them, maybe I’m due a reread too!
American Gods has been on my tbr for ages. I keep telling myself I’ll read the book before watching the show, but it’s such an intimidating book.
I’m telling myself the same, let’s hope we both get to it soon!
American Gods is fantastic but an absolute beast to wrangle too in size and the amount of characters. I really loved it though! I am currently rereading the Lunar Chronicles and they are just fun, but I understand the feeling of outgrowing them. I also have His Dark Materials patiently waiting next to Memoir Of A Geisha too. If you like we could buddy read them?

I’m really tempted to pick it up soon, I love the look of it and Neil Gaiman is such a brilliant writer. I definitely need to get round to those ones soon!
American Gods is pretty great! It is quite a mission just because of of its size and scope but it’s well worth a read at some point 🙂
The Amazon Prime trailers are just making me want to watch it even more too!
I’ve had Adam Silvera’s books on my TBR list for way TOO long, but I’ve always heard how sad they are and I can’t get myself to read them. I’m hoping one day I feel brave enough to pick one up.
He is an excellent writer, but man my heart did not survive that one!
His Dark Materials trilogy has been on my tbr for the LONGEST time–I have the first one on my tbr for this year though so hopefully I’ll actually get to it!
I’ll try and join you there!
I have had ‘Fairest’ and ‘Stars Above’ by Marissa Meyer on my TBR for the longest time!
I don’t see myself reading ‘Fairest’, but I absolutely need to read ‘Stars Above’ before I get spoiled.
Okay yep I haven’t read those ones yet either… but then again I also don’t own them, so I’m not going to count them. Phew!
Definitely read Good Omens before watching the show, if you’re planning on watching it. I loved the book!
I’m trying to work through some of my most neglected TBR books too! You’ve got some of my all-time favourites on your list though – I love American Gods, His Dark Materials, and Memoirs of a Geisha! Hope you enjoy them when you get around to reading.
I will definitely be trying to pick some of them up soon!
The only one I have read form this is Memoirs of a Geisha and that was years ago cannot remember much of it!
Good luck getting onto reading some of these!

I definitely need to get around to it!
