Another month, another wrap up. August was a busy one for me, not only in my reading, but also apparently in what I watched. It wasn’t a wildly busy month for me for any other reasons. I started to redecorate my room, with a mustard theme in mind, starting with my dream yellow arm chair. I also decided to redesign my blog, which is what you’re reading this one now.
Shall I jump into the fiction I consumed?

Books:
The Poppy War // 5 STAR
The Darkest Minds // 3½ STAR
To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before // 5 STAR
The Witch of Willow Hall // 3½ STAR
P.S. I Still Love You // 5 STAR
City of Ghosts // 4 STAR
My favourite read of the month had to be The Poppy War, a fantastic Chinese warfare inspired story that involved shamanism, adventure and war. I devoured the story, it was chunky and full of action, just what I needed to pull me out of the reading slump I was in for most of July.
I was also super excited to get my hands of City of Ghosts by Victoria Schwab in August. I read it mainly in one sitting, it was such an addictive story. It certainly left me feeling inspired to pick up The Bone Season as my now current read, with all the talk of spirits.
I also started and read most of (now finished) the To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before series. I wanted to read the book before watching the film, turns out the audiobooks are quite addictive and I couldn’t stop once I’d started!
Films:
Justice League 3½ STAR
Get Out // 4 STAR
The Darkest Minds // 3 STAR
The Notebook // 4 STAR
Sex in the City 2 // 4 STAR
Ready Play One // 5 STAR
Jumanji // 4 STAR
A mix of rewatches and first time views for the films this month. Ready Player One comes in at my highest scoring, because that film is amazing. I was so pleased to snap it up on DVD and have it to watch whenever I want. If you haven’t seen it yet, please go and watch it. I also really enjoyed Get Out, a film my boyfriend and I watched one evening in an empty house, thankfully it wasn’t the kind of horror that left us feeling on edge. It was certainly a clever film and worthy of all the praise surrounding it.

TV Shows:
The Crown // 4 STAR
Bodyguard // 4 STAR
I’m quite bad at watching TV shows, but we’ve been continuing with The Crown this month and I’m enjoying it. It’s not an action packed show, but it’s interesting and is teaching me more about my countries history. I also started the Bodyguard, which has becoming a very popular BBC thriller. It’s really got me on the edge of my seat, I can’t wait to keep going with it.
So that’s everything for me in August. I hope you had a brilliant month, I’m now ready for Autumn to roll on in! What was the best thing you did last month? Let me know down in the comments.

i misssed out on seeing darkest minds bc it never had a good time at my cinema 🙁 im v sad about that. i hope your room looks fab
I don’t think it was too much of a film you need to see at the cinema to be honest. It was good, but now wow worthy.
Room turned out really well thank you!
Ahh I read To All the Boys over the summer because I wanted to watch the film as well haha. I haven’t read the last book in the trilogy, though. Would you recommend it? Apparently it’s quite different to the first two.
I watched some of both the Crown and Bodyguard with my family, who get very easily hooked on these British dramas! I think I prefer the Crown though, it’s not as tense.

I’d definitely recommend finishing the series, it’s really good fun. The final one is certainly more developed.
Glad you enjoy The Crown, I need a little more drama see, I love a bit of a thriller!
