Spiders, heights, small spaces, these are all fears, but they aren’t the only fears. Fear can be anything, fear of a situation, of change, of asking for help. We as people are incredibly resilient when you think about it, all of the times we could run and hide but we keep going. People that overcome their fears and grow from them have inspired me, so I’m asking them to share their stories to help others.
This is going to become a blog series where inspirational women share their fears and how they have overcome them. I want this to act as an inspiration to women so that they can see other people have been through what they’re going through and they have come out the other end. There are some AMAZING ladies out there in this community and I want to showcase them in the hope they can offer strength to those who need it.
My Fears
I am terrified of change, after 14 house moves and a lot of life changes as a child, it’s no wonder I like a stable environment. I certainly fear change and this creeps into other elements of my life, more recently into my career.
I recently started a new job in a whole new type of industry, working in a busy digital marketing agency with multiple clients. I went from working at a charity doing their digital marketing, facing my fear involved leaving this world I knew and loved, including the people, to enter into a new job with a whole new set of rules. This decision was an incredibly hard one, I had a lot of support from those around me and I really went for it. I think it’s paid off, so I’m glad I didn’t let fear stop me!
Leaving my job was a really upsetting time for me and I constantly doubted myself. I talk more about it in my blog post explaining exactly why I quit my job. It is a real challenge to start over somewhere new and to even make the decision to look for new roles in the first place, but I did it, and I hope it will help me do better in the long run. I’ve learnt from my experiences and I’ve faced my fear of change in my career. I was able to move forward and better my path in life and know that if I need to, I can do the same thing again in the future.
How can you get involved?
I’m going to be asking questions to the lovely ladies who have volunteered to be a part of this blog series over the coming months. I want them to inspire confidence in you and show you that you can face your fears. If you’d like to take part, please send an email to beth@booksnest.co.uk and I can send you through the questions.

Really excited to read more about this Beth!
Thank you Lauren! I’ve had some amazing stories so far!
