This post will commence the first of my Autumn blog post, a series to highlight my favourite season. As it’s my favourite season I thought I’d compile a little list of my top books to read in Autumn.
For me, Autumn books should be a little bit magical, maybe a bit haunted and definitely cosy.
City of Ghosts, Victoria Schwab
This book is perfect for the Halloween season, it’s all about ghosts and it’s a new book from Victoria Schwab. It’s a really fun and fast read, I read it snuggled in a blanket on my reading chair in one evening. It’s about a girl who can see and interact with ghosts and her adventures in Scotland.
The Secret of Spellshadow Manor, Bella Forrest
This book is definitely gives off Harry Potter vibes, it’s about a pairing of friends who somehow end up in a magical school, only they can’t leave. This book is set in a very dark and stormy atmosphere, it definitely makes you want to gather a hot drink and candles to read in the company of.
The Shadow of the Wind, Carlos Ruiz Zafón
This book took me by storm, set in a hot Barcelona, it may not seem like an Autumnal read. But the intimate tale it paints and the descriptions used make it the perfect book to get stuck into for hours on end in the long Autumn nights. It’s all about a search for a book that a man has been obsessed with for much of his life.
The Spellbook of the Lost and Found, Moïra Fowley-Doyle
This magical realism book is very reminiscent of Neil Gaiman. It’s weird, magical and unusual, it’s all about a lost Spellbook that causes some teens some troubles. There’s mystery and intrigue and I honestly don’t want to say much more than that. The setting gives me serious autumn vibes and I loved it.
The Book Jumper, Mechthild Gläser
This book is all about a group of teens who can jump into books and take part in the stories. It’s amazing for any book lover, who wouldn’t want to jump into their favourite fiction?! Set on a stormy island and featuring so many perfect classics, this is a book that I think is perfect to explore in Autumn.
This is my favorite month and season too! (and it doesn’t have anything to do with my birthday being on Sunday haha)
I have trouble assocating books with seasons unless it is like a Christmas book then obviously it feels wintery. To me its more of the feeling of curling up all cozy with a fuzzy blanket and a cup of tea!
Yes definitely, I love cuddling up and being all cosy, I am a person who prefers to be too cold than too hot. Then you can always get warmer!
AAAHHHH I want to read all of them! However, where I live it’s coming to the hotter days and I don’t think I’ll be wanting warm drinks anytime soon!
Maybe read them accompanied by an ice lolly? That’d be just the same!

Lovely list ! I’ll go add a few on my tbr, heheh … for me, Id wanna add “in a dark dark wood” by ruth ware. idk, I just love the fresh atmosphere in that house of glass in a middle of the woods; though it does snow in that book .. but it can happens in early/end of autumn, mh ?

I am so excited for the colder days when I can finally snuggle up again with a cup of coffee, a good read and a candle next to me! As for my perfect fall reads: I definitely want to read the HP series again sometime this fall.
It’s the best season! Rereading Potter is always a win too, I hope you love it.
