After a long January, it’s always nice to follow up with a quick second month of the year. But it has been a slow one for me when it comes to reading. But I’ve been busy with lots of other things, so I’m going to let myself off of my mini slump.
Books
Clockwork Angel, Cassandra Clare // 3 STAR
Oh My Gods, Alexandra Sheppard // 3.7 STAR
This has been a slow reading month for me! I always find after a busy month of reading where I’m finishing book after book, I tend to hit a slump. I’m still reading The Near Witch and I’ll be honest… it’s okay. I’m not loving it as much as I’d hoped I would, it’s quite slow, which probably isn’t helping with said slump.
Films
The Social Network // 4 STAR
Love, Simon // 4 STAR
How To Train Your Dragon // 5 STAR
How To Train Your Dragon 2 // 5 STAR
How To Train Your Dragon 3 // 5 STAR
Oceans 8 // 4 STAR
A Quiet Place // 4 STAR
OH MY GOD why did I not watch the How To Train Your Dragon films sooner. They are an emotional ride with a lot of epic characters and a lot of my tears. I really loved them, I love dragons and I love Toothless best of all of them. If you haven’t watched this series, have a box of tissues ready and enjoy!
I absoutely loved watching Love, Simon – I watched it twice this month. I think this film is so important to watch and to take in, it highlights some extremely important messages in a very real way. If you haven’t seen it yet, I’d really advise that you give it a watch!
TV
Russian Doll // I DON’T KNOW
I honestly don’t know what I thought of this series, it was bizarre and complicated. There was a lot in it and I binged it in the space of an evening. It’s a Grounghog Day esk show, where the main character keeps dying and waking back up again.
Experiences
I’ve been lucky enough to head up to London twice this month, once to go to the Scholastic Bloggers’ Book Feast and once to go out for the day with my family. There’s something about London that I just love, the business, the culture and creativity, it just feels like a fun place to be.
I loved attending the blogger event at Scholastic, that was a really fun one. Any bookish day out where I get to meet fellow bloggers and talk all things fiction is definitely okay by me. It was great to meet new people too and explore new parts of London, including a book on a barge boat called Word on the Water.
A big one for me on the experiences front, I have moved onto a new job role. I’m going to be talking about this further in a blog post dedicated to why I quit my old role. So future Beth will insert that here when it’s live. It’s been a busy month, but that’s the way I like it, certainly one full of change too!
What did you get up to in February?

Thank you Isabelle!
I love Hiccup so much, you’re right, such a good role model!
Yesssssss, How to Train Your Dragon! I binged rewatching the first two the same day I went and saw the third one, and let me just say, all I did was cry…and cry….and cry. I just love these movies so much and I’m so glad you got to enjoy them!
Sounds like a great month. I’m definitely going to have to check out Word on the Water at some point too, I didn’t realise where it was until recently.
