Thank you very much to Quirk Books for sending me a copy of this novel to review, after I really enjoyed reading Geekerella.
I really wanted to love this book more than I did, to be honest, it certainly picked up at the end, but for most of it, I was quite bored. I think I’ve reached a point where I’m sick of predictable storylines and romances that just happen… but maybe that’s just the cynic in me.
I felt from the off this book was obviously heading in one direction, as did the first one. But that didn’t mean I didn’t enjoy the setting and the characters. I liked being back in a Con environment, it made me even more excited for YALC. Anyone who is passionate about any kind of fandom would love to explore the world painted in this book. Getting people like this all together in one building will always be somewhere I want to be!
I enjoyed the spin on this that the fandom brought people together who would never have usually met. There’s a range of characters and I’m happy to say they’re not all straight and white! I did end up loving characters I started of disliking, so that’s always a win for character development in writing. Overall, this book could have been a little less predictable, but I suppose I did end up enjoying it!
