I love reading autobiographies as audiobooks, hearing the author narrate them adds even more character to their pages. Michelle Obama has such a soothing voice, I felt very immersed in this book because of her narration. I loved learning about her formative years, her education and her meeting Barack Obama. It’s not a story you often here amidst everything else that surrounds this couple.

Listening to this book at a time of change and struggle in my life was a major help, I felt steadied by hearing Michelle Obama’s voice talk about the struggles she went through. She is such a resilient woman, she leaves a lot to be inspired by and her stories paint the path for women everywhere to take something away for themselves. She teaches that we are not limited by the education we have had or the career path we have at first chosen, we are able to change our lives whenever we want.

Reading this book was like going on a very intense journey that I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to. When it came to the end of the book and the Obama’s leaving the White House, I felt sad to see them go, they were at the end of something that had been their everything for so long. There was both relief and sadness for Michelle at this time and she portrays that so well, I feel very invested as a reader! As an outside and not an American, I was just watching all of this happen on the TV, but reading this book I can really get a grasp of what it must have been like in America when Trump was announced as the next president.

In everything Michelle Obama does she is passing parts of herself onto others, this book is no exception. She constantly passes on the messages she has been promoting for so long, she is all about her passions and her morals. I only love her more from reading this autobiography.
