Words are beyond me for what is happening in Australia right now. Fires are destroying over 4 million hectares of land, half a billion animals are dead, over 20 humans and people are losing their homes.
This blog post is very quick and very simple. It is offering you a guide to know where you can go to donate and help to support those desperately battling this awful fire.
I’ve added in a small segment from each website to tell you what they’re about.
Australian Red Cross
Since July 2019, Red Cross teams have responded to 30 emergencies (some of which have been going for up to 6 weeks) and supported over 18,600 people, through the efforts of more than 1,590 volunteers and staff.
Right now they’re supporting thousands of people in evacuation centres and recovery hubs across Australia.
NSW Royal Fire Service
Rural Fire Brigades are often more than just an emergency service. They can also be a vital community service, provide a community meeting point or offer assistance with non-emergency roles.
For this reason, many people choose to donate to their local Rural Fire Brigade.
Salvation Army Disaster Appeal
Salvation Army Emergency Services (SAES) teams are responding to devastating bushfires around Australia as an unprecedented number of emergency-level fires cause tragic loss of life and property.
The situation remains extremely fluid.
Salvation Army teams have been activated at multiple locations, with a number of teams on standby ready to activate should they be required at other evacuation centres.
“Our teams are providing meals to evacuees and frontline responders, and will continue to provide whatever support is needed as the situation develops,” said Major Topher Holland, General Manager Strategic Emergency and Disaster Management
WWF Koala Crisis
Bushfires are burning across the country. Over 480 million animals are believed to have been killed, including thousands of koalas. Over 4 million hectares has been burnt in NSW alone since September 2019. Your support is needed to help restore homes and care for injured wildlife.
Koalas are heading towards extinction in New South Wales and southeast Queensland as early as 2050. Will you help launch a critical and bold plan to save them, before it’s too late?
RSPCA New South Wales
With fires ravaging the state, animals are at their most vulnerable. Please donate to our bushfire appeal to help protect them.
Currently, our heroic inspectors and staff are assisting at evacuation centres in northern NSW and beyond, helping members of the public keep their pets and livestock safe from the fires.
Wires Wildlife Rescue
Horrific unrelenting fires continue to decimate NSW during one of the worst droughts in history. During the catastrophic fires, lives have been lost, hundreds of homes have been lost, over 4 million hectares of land have been destroyed and dozens of fires are still burning.
We need urgent assistance to help with these unprecedented emergencies. To help rescue wildlife please give generously today.
I am heartbroken by what I am seeing in Australia, it is bringing me to tears to see what is happening. The destruction is terrifying and so upsetting. I myself have donated to Wires who are helping to rescue the animals and look after them during this horrible time. If you are in a position to give yourself, I know each of these charities would really appreciate it. If you’re not in a position to give, which is also completely fine, please help me by sharing this blog post.
I know there are more charities than this that you can donate to, to help, but I wanted this to be an easy list to look at and donate.
