How to support your favourite bloggers and vloggers

Bloggers and vloggers supporting each other is how we grow in this community. If you’re writing or filming content and you want to see support for it, the best way to get that is by supporting your fellow blogger. So this blog is going to be telling you how you could do that.

I was inspired by Becky’s post on her blog uptownoracle to put this blog post together, so thank you, Becky!

Follow/Subscribe to their content

This one is as much help to you as it is to the blogger/vlogger. Whether you’re following their blog, YouTube or social media, your support will be clear. If you like the content that person is putting out, click the follow button and they will know you’re a fan and you’ll get to see all of their latest posts. It’s win-win and a really easy way to show support!

As a side note to this, if they have one, you could also sign up to their newsletter. Not all bloggers will have one of these, but if there’s an option to sign up to a mailing list, this is a really good way to show support and see updates.

Comment on/like their posts

This may seem like one of the most obvious options, but sometimes we forget to do it. I make myself sit down for a blog hopping session, where I visit all of my favourite blogs and comment and like on the most recent posts I’ve loved. This lets them know you’re there, you’re reading and you enjoyed what you read. It also may encourage other readers to leave a comment too.

Keep reading/watching more of their content

If you enjoyed the blog post you read or video you watched, why not find more! Jump from content to content and let yourself have a little blogger/vlogger binge. You’ll probably find some really good bits of content and you’ll also be helping their stats by really engaging with their website/YouTube and not just dropping off after one post/video.

Click on/watch their ads

I always try and do this when visiting another blog/watching a video on BookTube. If you click on the ads, you’re helping that blogger out and allowing them to get a few extra p’s. In my experience, ad revenue is pretty minimal and I’m nowhere near the withdraw limit, but it doesn’t mean it isn’t worth doing. It’s a tiny thing you can do to support bloggers/vloggers that takes just seconds of your time.

Use their affiliate codes

If you know a blogger/vlogger has an affiliate link/code for somewhere you might be shopping, for example, Amazon. Then it’s always nice to use the link to help support them. Similar to the above, it may only be a very small profit margin, but everything adds up. If you’re going to be shopping online anyway, why not help your favourite creator earn a few more pennies?

Share their links on your social media

No matter how small or big your social following, this will always go a long way. By creating a dedicated social media post promoting a blogger/vlogger’s content, I can tell you that you’re not only boosting their content but also making them smile. I love being tagged in posts of people sharing my blog, it makes me feel happy that people enjoyed reading it enough to share it.

Share other blogs on Pinterest

Pinterest can be a minefield of promotions and marketing and it can be daunting if you don’t know how to use it. But that’s not what this post is about. By sharing a fellow bloggers post that you enjoyed on Pinterest, you’re pushing it to a wider audience that may not have seen it otherwise. This is a really easy way to offer some free marketing to a blogger you love and want to support.

Tell your friends about them through word of mouth

Nothing promotes better than passion! If I really love something, I will tell everyone about it and I won’t stop talking about how fabulous it is. Sure everything is digital now, but if you have friends around you that share similar interests, what’s wrong with mentioning this amazing post or video you’ve enjoyed to them?

Tag other bloggers in your posts, especially if you’ve taken inspiration from their ideas

As I’ve said, this idea came from Becky. I asked her if she minded me writing something before I wrote this and I’ve added a link to her blog at the top of this post. Bloggers and vloggers work really hard on coming up with content ideas, it isn’t fair to steal an idea for yourself if you know it came from somewhere else. It takes seconds to ask if someone minds you taking inspiration from their idea. Usually, they’ll be flattered you liked the post enough to create one of your own!

Try and get to know other bloggers

I mean really try and get to know them. We’re a friendly bunch, I love meeting other bloggers at events like YALC. If you’re not able to meet a blogger in person, there’s always social media. Interacting with them and having chats online will show you genuinely want to talk to them and care about the content they produce.
