How to feel inspired when you aren't able to leave your house

Coming across inspiration can be tricky at the best of times, but especially so when you aren’t able to leave your house and vary your day to make your creative juices start flowing. Here are some ways to feel inspired when you aren’t able to leave your house.

Search for ideas on Pinterest

If you’re wanting to find inspiration for a creative project, but don’t know where to start and are feeling low on inspiration, Pinterest is such a good place to go! It is a search engine that is the hub of knowledge on so many topics. Anyone can share their blog posts/content on Pinterest, meaning it is essentially an unlimited source of inspiration for you to scroll through.

I would suggest searching a topic you’re interested in and clicking from link to link, browsing content others have created. Eventually, you’ll start to generate your own ideas and start feeling inspired again!

Use the save feature on Instagram

Whenever I am low on ideas for Instagram content I head to my saved photos in the app. This is a section I have curated myself to feature posts I really love and take inspiration from. If I scroll through these photos I find myself starting to think about how I could make my photos work and ideas start forming. I find this to be a huge source of my inspiration, seeing how creative others are being.

Talk about your dreams

This one might seem like a silly heading, but if you remember your dreams in the morning, talking about them with someone or write them down. In the evening before you go back to sleep, think about dreaming, say out loud that you want to remember your dream. If you start doing this every day, it will start to happen. Why will this give you inspiration? Your dreams are only limited by your own imagination, anything could happen in them which makes them very exciting! The more bizarre and impossible your dreams seem, the more your imagination is being used and the more likely to think creatively you’ll be! You may not be able to leave your house, but that doesn’t stop you exploring impossible worlds as you sleep!

Read books, watch TV

Of course, reading and watching things is bound to provide you with ideas. The more you do this and really absorb yourself in what you’re watching/reading, the more you are activating the side of your brain that thinks creatively. You will automatically imagine worlds, plot lines, characters, backstories. It may seem like it isn’t making a difference, but it is offering the variety and escapism in your day that enables you to take the creativity you are absorbing and put it into your own work.

I hope you find these tips useful, let me know if you have any of your own!
