I’ve talked before about books that aren’t worth the hype, but here’s my list of reads that I think are 100% worth the excitement that surrounds them. The following books are all books I picked up because they a, looked awesome and b, had a huge amount of hype surrounding them and I couldn’t not read them.

A Darker Shade of Magic, V. E. Schwab
This series introduced me to one of my favourite authors, I initially picked it up because it reminded me of the books I would enjoy when I was younger. This series has really grown in popularity and Victoria Schwab has quite a lot of hype surrounding her, she is so loved within the YA community. All of her books are fantastic and her writing style is unique and entrancing. Her books are completely worth the hype and I think they should become staple reading for fantasy.

Children of Blood and Bone, Tomi Adeyemi
I knew within the first few chapters that this book would shoot up to my favourites list. An epic fantasy with adventure and amazing characters, yes please! This is a book that has a lot of hype surrounding it at the moment and it is definitely worth it. This story was constant action and excitement, not once did I get bored and not feel inclined to pick it up to read. It was 100% entertaining the whole way through and you can’t not love it!

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, Jenny Han
THIS BOOK! I have had this one my shelf since YALC 2017 and it’s only since the film came out last week that I thought to download the audiobook. It’s a classic case of why didn’t I do this sooner, because this story is so cosy and cute and I just love it. It’s a real easy, feel good read and I think it’s just what I needed. If you’re looking for a book that will brighten your spirits and make you want to be best friends with the characters, then this is the one. 10/10 worth the hype!

Caraval, Stephanie Garber
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book, so I got to read it before the hype exploded too much and it was amazing! It gave off Alice in Wonderland weirdness vibes, anything is possible in this world and no one is to be trusted. This is the first part of a trilogy that remains very hyped and I can say that it really is worth it, these books are the perfect reads to escape reality and fall into something quite wonderful.

They Both Die at the End, Adam Silvera
I don’t think I will be the only person to say that this book RUINED ME, it was so damn tragic and sad and epic and it was just amazing. I couldn’t take my eyes away from the page and it has stuck with me still now. It’s my first of Adam Silvera’s books and it’s set the bar high for me. This book is completely worth the hype surrounding it, just make sure you have some tissues close by.

I had the same feeling reading Children of Blood and Bone. You just knew that it was something special 🙂
Yes, exactly! An amazing read.
