We all do it, we all work ourselves too hard, become too busy, make too many plans. Sometimes we just forget to look after ourselves. But no matter what we have going on in our lives, it is so important to remember to make time for you.
Today is World Mental Health Day, a day to share your stories, to talk, to listen, to understand. Created by Mind, the mental health charity, this day is here for us to show our support for better mental health.
Sometimes you can feel like the last thing you ever want to do is talk about how you feel. Maybe you would rather shut yourself away or go for long walks or loose yourself in a book. Perhaps some days you can’t bring yourself to get out of bed, to open your curtains, to look outside. Sometimes you have a good day, sometimes you have a bad day. Let me start off by saying, never feel bad about the bad days.
Dear 13 year old me,
You’ve got a lot ahead of you, so many exams, a few heart breaks, some wonderfully magical moments, some great concerts and you have a lot of new people to meet. You’re going to have a busy ten years, certainly busier than the ten before now, but they’re so exciting and are probably your defining years. I know right now you think you’ll never have a boyfriend, you are shy when you talk about sex and everything to do with your body is embarassing, but I promise you that doesn’t last forver. Infact you’re only a couple of years away from being able to talk about all of that stuff a lot more freely.
