Best Books of 2017

30/12/2017

2017 has drawn to a close, so here’s a list of the books I loved throughout the year, there’s a varied mix here, but generally they’re all books that meant something to me in 2017. Enjoy!

IT, Stephen King

This book is meant to be a horror, but for me it was just a gripping read that was fantastically narrated. I have listened and half read this book over a week and completely loved it, the complex set of characters and plot made it a really interesting book to get stuck into.

Eliza and her Monsters,  Francesca Zappia

A nerdy read for anyone who is a fan of fandom books, graphic novels, shy and loveable characters, it’s just brilliant. I fell into this book and couldn’t put it down until I finished it, it was the kind of book that occupied so many of my waking thoughts.

Strange the Dreamer, Laini Taylor

This is definitely up there on the favourite books list, it was a fantasy like no other. The world building and the characters in this book were totally unexpected, I never thought I would like it as much as I did, let alone love it. This is perfect for any strong fantasy lover.

A Conjuring of Light, Victoria Schwab

Of course this book had to make it onto my top read list, the conclusion to the Darker Shade of Magic Series was superb and delivered exactly what it promised. An epic end to an epic series, this book stood out for how it brought the story together and had me totally hooked.

The Ocean at the End of the Lane, Neil Gaiman

This book started of my Neil Gaiman buying spree, I think his writing style is fantastically bizarre and he is possible going to be on the way to being on my favourite authors list. This book is suitably weird and unusual, I loved it from start to finish!

My Lady Jane, Various Authors

A curveball on my list, this book was one I didn’t even think to read until it was in my basket in Canada. It is a hilarious and unreliable historical fiction that left me inspired and smiling, everything you need from a good book I think!
