As it is the season of fireworks, I thought I’d give you a few books that I think go off with a bang!
I have to start with the firework of a series that is A Court of Thorns and Roses, mainly the concluding book in this trilogy! I thought this series was pretty good by the time it got to the second book, but the third one was like an epic battle scene in a film, I wish I could have seen it visually, not just in my head.
I couldn’t put this down for the last 100 pages, it was one heroic action after another and was just fabulous! I don’t think Maas is a particularly amazing writer, but this book did bring her up in my rankings. So if you want something that’s going to end with a bang then this is the one!
The next mention has to go to Caraval by Stephanie Garber, her debut novel in fact. I read this at the start of 2017 and LOVED it! I’m potentially giving it firework status for the magical carnival setting, but also because of how creative and awe-inspiring this world is.
If you like a book you can totally loose yourself in, then this is the one. I 100% wanted to visit everywhere the characters went in this book, as well as spend some time with them too. I can’t wait for the sequel to come out next year so I can jump back into the world!
Next up we’re leaving the fantasy genre behind for a contemporary that will stay with you for sure! This is all about the lives of two fantastic people and how they collide for a day, it is beautiful and it made me cry. If you want diversity, emotion and an eye opening read then this is one you have to pick up!
It’s on the fireworks list because it is absolutely stunning and it totally makes you think. The power is has for being set in one day is just brilliant. For a quick read full of firework bangs, pick this one up!
The final book on my list has to be Ready Player One by Ernest Cline, which is one of my favourite books and I don’t even own a copy! If you want excitement, fireworks and edge of seat style stuff, then this is the book for you.
Set in a not so unlikely future, virtual reality is a huge part of life and there are huge odds at play for the main character in this book. This was a constantly exciting read, every page was amazing and it has stuck with me a few years after reading it.
